CMR 2016 is a youth-specific FIA homologation, designed exclusively for drivers under 15 years old. It ensures lighter helmet construction with advanced impact protection suitable for younger neck strength. This homologation is widely accepted in UK and international karting. It remains valid until the FIA announces a future replacement, after which a grace period normally applies.
FIA 8858-2010 is a karting-only helmet homologation for junior and senior drivers. It meets FIA safety standards for kart racing and is commonly accepted across club, national, and international competitions. This homologation is being phased out, so drivers should always check their championship regulations to confirm ongoing eligibility.
FIA 8859-2015 is a motorsport helmet homologation used primarily in car racing and higher-level motorsport rather than karting. It offers enhanced protection compared to earlier standards and is accepted by many race series worldwide. Validity depends on individual championship rules, so always check before competing.
FIA 8860-2018 is the highest current FIA helmet safety standard, designed for professional and elite-level motorsport. These helmets feature advanced materials, higher impact resistance, and superior fire protection. This homologation is long-term valid and typically required for top-tier FIA championships.
FIA 8877-2022 is the latest FIA karting helmet homologation (at the time of writing/publishing), introduced to raise safety standards across karting. It applies to both junior and senior drivers and replaces older karting standards over time. Many championships are now transitioning to this homologation, making it a future-proof choice.
